THE SIGNS

This is a rather too literary piece I wrote for The Kansas City Business Journal in 1985, at the height of the Reagan Presidency and Iran-Contra. I must have sensed which way the wind was blowing, where the country was heading culturally. Despite its surreal symbolism, “The Signs” is, if anything, more relevant in the age of Trump and coronavirus than when it was first published. –D. C. Weiser
